Privacy notice

This is an outline notice, pending legal review. It describes honestly what Souq Route does with enquiry data today, but it is not a finished privacy policy and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch.

Browsing the marketplace requires no account and asks nothing of you. The only point at which we collect personal data is when you choose to send an enquiry.

What an enquiry collects

Your name — so the supplier knows who is asking.
Your email address — the primary way a supplier replies to you.
Your phone number — the alternative, and in this market often the faster one.
Your company — so a supplier can judge the enquiry and quote trade terms.
Your message, together with the product or category you were looking at, the quantity you need, and anything else you type into the form.

Please do not put information in the message that you would not want a supplier to read. It is passed on as written.

Why we collect it

For one purpose: to pass your enquiry to the suppliers who can answer it, and to let them respond to you. We also keep a record of the enquiry so we can follow up if nobody replies, and so we can tell which parts of the catalogue buyers are actually asking about.

Who it is shared with

Your enquiry — including your contact details — is shared with the suppliers it is routed to, so that they can reply to you directly. That is the point of sending it, and it cannot be avoided while still getting you a quote. Those suppliers are independent businesses and become responsible for the copy of your data that they hold, under their own privacy practices.

Beyond that, we share enquiry data with no one. We do not sell it, and we do not pass it to advertisers or data brokers. It is stored on our hosting and database providers as part of running the site.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are retained while they are useful for follow-up and for understanding demand across the catalogue. A defined retention period will be set as part of the legal review noted above.

Deleting your data

Email info@souqroute.com and ask us to delete your data. Include the email address or phone number you used, so we can find the enquiry. We will remove it from our records. Note that we cannot delete the copy a supplier already received — for that, contact the supplier directly, or ask us and we will tell you which suppliers your enquiry went to. The same address handles requests to see or correct what we hold.

Cookies

The marketplace does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, this notice will be updated first.
